The other day I was talking with a fellow coach and she mentioned she was‘scared of marketing‘ because she was not comfortable to make ‘a bold statement‘ about herself and the services she provides. That is why she closed her private practice and went to work for for a non-profit organization. Advertising her services was putting her out of her comfort zone.
Now I can relate to the feeling because I have struggled with that myself in the sense that I is very easy for me to help others market their services but when it comes to me making a statement about what it is I do, its a whole other story. That is why I am in mastermind groups and also have a business mentor who helps me get out of my own story when it comes to running my business.
Here is how you can confidently make bold statements about your business and why it is so important that you do.
The first thing to keep is mind is to come from a place of truth. We always start from where we are at and it evolves from there. Ask yourself these questions:
-
What am I really good at?
-
What is it about my product or service that benefits my customers and ideal clients?
-
What pain points can I help them solve and what kind of results can they expect to get from working with me?
-
What about my product or service is really unique and sets me apart from others in my field? In other words what is it that you do differently and how does that benefit your ideal clients?
Once you have truthfully answered these questions, create a list of the“strengths” your product/service offers and organize these “key selling points”. This will assist you to to mold them into a succinct message, A BOLD STATEMENT about what it is you do. Now here is why it is important to be bold.
You want to stand out from all the clutter that surrounds you.
Have you looked at your Facebook news feed lately? It’s pretty cluttered and if you are like me you probably scroll, scroll, scroll,… until something grabs your attention. It is usually a visual that stops you in your tracks, then the eye goes to the tagline.
If there is no tagline you look at the first few words of the post and here is where it is essential that you capture your audience. You only have 3 seconds (!!!) to do that before they scroll on.
This is EXACTLY where the bold statement comes in. You want to captivate your audience right after they stop scrolling with something that is truly compelling. In order to do that you have to convey to them immediately one thing.
What is the benefit they are getting?
If this is not clear you loose them, they are not going to click on your ad and land on the page you have intended to show them. When I work with clients teaching them how to set up their Facebook Ads, this is one of the many things we go over in great detail. (This reminds me, I recently created a little cheat sheet about how to avoid the 5 biggest beginner Facebook Ad mistakes which might be helpful to you. You can read all about it right here.)
You see in this day and age we are so inundated by advertising messages and most of them sound the same whether that is on Facebook or on TV. In order to stand out from the crowd you have to tap into your UNIQUENESS and once you have truthfully examined what that is you can confidently make that bold statement that will attract your ideal client.
Much love,
Simona
