Discover the secret ingredient that will not only have you stand out from the crowd but also quickly establish you as an expert and leader in your field. One of the biggest obstacles you are facing as an online entrepreneur is how to set yourself apart from everybody else out there so that you can been seen and heard by YOUR audience.

I’ve talked a lot about this lately because it is so critical to your success. There are some key things that you need to have in place right out of the gate.

1. You must know your TARGET AUDIENCE and how your product or service provides a solution to a problem they are facing.

2. You must speak to them in a language that they can actually understand. Here is where honing in on your MESSAGE becomes important.

But there is a 3rd thing and it’s really the secret ingredient.

You must provide VALUE to them.

When you communicate with your audience be it in Social Media or via newsletter or blog post, honor them by providing tangible and actionable advice.

They opened your newsletter, they took the time to read your Facebook post, they deserve to get something out of it.

And you are not giving away too much as some people out there would like to have you believe. Instead think of it as building a RELATIONSHIP with your readers.  This does take time. So the more value you provide, the more you are establishing the KNOW, LIKE and TRUST factor.

This way they eagerly await your newsletter and will open it when it arrives in their inbox because they know what to expect from you.

That’s when they come to see you as the EXPERT you are in your field. That’s when they will start reaching out to you because something that you said resonated with them or they put it into action and got results.

Case in point: I love reading Amy Porterfield’s newsletter because it’s jam-packed with value. And I do look for it every week.

Then the other day I got an email from somebody I subscribe to and it had a very catchy headline that made me curious. (By the way catchy headlines are key to increase your open rates these days.)

Now, I do respect this person for the work they do in the world but when I opened the email it was 100% fluff. Two paragraphs full of NOTHINGNESS ending with ‘stay tuned for a big announcement coming soon’.  I was disappointed.  Instead of building anticipation it completely turned me off.

Don’t leave your audience with that feeling of disappointment. Instead have them look forward to you showing up in their inbox by truly being in service and providing value every single time you communicate with them.

You can’t ever give too much away in a Facebook post or a newsletter but you can create a great relationship with your audience and that BY DEFAULT makes you stand out from crowd.

Try it, be consistent with it and I’ll guarantee you it’ll make a difference in your business.
